Who the verified information describes
People selected by HAPCAP for local community health work. This is one pathway with two phases, not two separate programs. University enrollment alone does not secure a job.
Eligibility
  • Phase 1 requires a high school diploma or GED. You also need to be enrolled, or willing to enroll, in Ohio University's next Phase 1 start. No prior CHW certification or experience is required.
  • Phase 2 requires completion of Ohio University Phase 1. The Phase 2 posting allows CHW certification or eligibility to apply for certification. The Phase 1 posting says certification must be obtained before progression. Ask HAPCAP which timing applies.
  • A driver's license, reliable transport, background check, flexible hours and the listed work duties apply. Read the correct phase posting for all employer requirements.
  • Minimum age and guaranteed weekly hours are unknown. Do not assume all young applicants meet the entry rules.
Compensation
Phase 1 pays $13/hour for work and field training. Study outside paid work hours is unpaid. A separate $6,000 university stipend follows successful coursework and field completion. Phase 2 starts at $14.28/hour. Its separate $7,500 stipend is paid in stages at 250, 500, 750 and 1,000 experience hours. Stipends are not hourly wages or upfront pay.
Duration
Phase 1 is estimated at 4-6 months with 100 class hours and 130 field hours. Phase 2 requires 2,000 actual field-work hours. The university's general timetable is not a confirmed HAPCAP cohort schedule.
Credential
Phase 1 prepares you to apply for Ohio CHW certification after coursework, field hours and a positive employer evaluation. Certification approval is not automatic. Phase 2 progression and any Community Health Specialist role depend on performance and employer need. This is community navigation, not therapy or a license to provide mental-health treatment.

What happens next

Read the jobs page and the posting for your phase. Ask HAPCAP which role is still available, which university cohort applies, and when certification is required. Use the employer's instructions only after checking those limits. The October 12 full-consideration date is not proof of an unfilled seat. College enrollment alone is not a job offer.
